NEW Surf Stretch Sessions

 

Have you had a landlocked lockdown? The days are getting longer, restrictions are easing and getting back to the ocean is on the horizon. However, a lot of us have suffered these past months without access to the ocean, gyms or swimming pools and surf-fitness has gone by the wayside.

Wouldn’t it be great to jog down to the surf again and feel confident? Rather than standing in the carpark, worrying about your popup or if you still have paddle power? That’s how I feel, so I have developed the Surf Stretch Sessions: a series of 4 classes throughout April aimed at improving strength and flexibility for surfing.

Ha! Spot the obvious lie.
What I miss more is the little things:

Seeing the surf reports and knowing life just got good…The tune-in with friends: who’s going where and when.

The drive down,:  Mirror-like lakes, mountain views, The sea on the horizon…
Wind turbines lookin’ so lazy.

A fuel-up of hot coffee and a quick catch up… Ohh, those cakes look nice….

Then down to the ocean…. Park up,
Let the dog out to wag and scrounge…

What can you expect the first time you go surfing?

Everyone will have their own experience; their own reason for first dipping their toes in the ocean, surfboard clutched nervously under one arm. I will share with you my experience, perhaps it may sound familiar to those of you who recently took up surfing, or hopefully dispel any concerns someone might have should they want to give it a try; it may even remind seasoned surf instructors what it is like for your average Joe / Jo taking their first lesson so they may perhaps be a bit more forgiving of our ineptitude….

For a start, I admit to being very nervous the first time I went surfing.
